Balochistan’s first online Urdu news magazine Haal Awal was launched in Quetta on May 3rd on the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day. Prominent columnist and former editor of Daily Asaap Abid Mir will edit the news magazine. The publication says it is committed to promoting progressive ideas and would discourage any material that promotes violence or creates communal, religious and sectarian disharmony. The launching ceremony of the publication was held at the Quetta Press Club. On its homepage, the magazine has published the photo of late Irshad Mastoi, 34, a fearless journalist who was killed in Quetta in 2014, indicating its commitment to the high journalistic values Mastoi adhered to.
